The basilica is situated on Montmartre-the highest point in Paris. It is fairly new, its construction didn't finish until 1914 and it wasn't consecrated until after WW1 in 1919. It is very monumental in the city both culturally and politically.
La basilique est situé au butte de Montmartre--le plus haut point en Paris. Elle est nouveau, sa construction n'a pas fini jusqu'à 1914 et elle est consacré en 1919, après la première guerre mondiale. La basilique a beaucoup d'importance culturelle et politique.
Next to the basilica there is a large plaza with a lot of artists who sell their portraits and paintings of Paris. This tradition began in the 19th century when artists like Pissarro, Degas, and Dali moved to Montmartre.
Juste à coté de la basilique il y a u grand place avec beaucoup d'artistes qui vendent leurs portraits et les peintures de Paris. Ce tradition a commencé dans la dix-neufième siècle quand les artistes, Pissarro, Degas, et Dali ont déménagé à Montmartre.
